While you can find discounts for desktop and laptop computers during the holidays for all brands, you may want to buy an Apple computer at a different time if the goal is to get the lowest price. In other words, if a new Apple product comes out, you'll want to look at what the new desktop or laptop replaced. You may want to buy an older version, which is likely to be offered at a steep discount.

As for the best time to buy an Apple desktop or laptop, Brown suggests typical shopping holidays and holiday weekends. That said, she says she has had particular luck getting good deals on Apple laptops and desktops during Black Friday.

If you're interested in a Microsoft laptop, it's best to stick to shopping holidays and the aforementioned times of year. Brown says that if you don't end up buying a desktop or laptop during the holidays, you'll have plenty of other chances to get a good deal.

The Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases of most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) during the annual Tax-Free weekend. Qualifying items can be purchased tax free from a Texas store or from an online or catalog seller doing business in Texas. In most cases, you do not need to give the seller an exemption certificate to buy qualifying items tax free.

During the holiday you can buy qualifying items in-store, online, by telephone, mail, custom order, or any other means. The sale of the item must take place during the specific period. The purchase date is easy to determine when the purchase is made in-store but becomes more complicated with remote purchases. The purchaser must have given the consideration for the item during the period even if the item may not be delivered until after the period is over.

For example, if a purchaser enters their credit card information in an online shopping website on Sunday Aug. 7, 2022 at 5:00 purchase qualifying school supplies, but the school supplies will not be shipped until Friday Aug. 12, 2022 and will not arrive until Tuesday Aug. 16, the purchase will still qualify for the exemption. However, if the charge to your credit card is declined by the payment processor at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 7, 2022 and the purchaser does not resubmit payment until Monday Aug. 8, the purchase is taxable.

Bookstore Bucks allow you to take advantage of unused Financial Aid to get what you need before receiving your Financial Aid Refund. Bookstore Bucks are available for in-store and online purchases. You will need a LakerCard to complete your purchase.

As an added convenience for Exchange in-store and online customers, we have temporarily extended our Return/Exchange Policy. All online order return requests must be initiated within 7 days of receipt to be eligible for a return. You will need to provide your order number, name, email, and phone number, and within 1 business day, you will receive a call back along with a return label emailed to you. Merchandise must have all tags attached, including the security tag, to qualify for a refund. All items must be returned in the same condition as delivered.
